Using Cues to turn off gravity

June 05, 2014

Elements normally show up an ground level, but sometimes you want to crane an Element up into the air or push it down into the floor. Turning off Gravity allows you to crane Elements up and down.

It's easy add a Cue that turns off Gravity for an Element (like Ryan or a Wall panel):

  1. Select the Element’s Mark (the triangle in the track at the bottom of the screen). Normally you would turn Gravity off at timecode 00:00:00:00.0.
  2. Click the Gear icon to see the Mark’s Properties.
  3. Select the Triangle icon that is in the midbar between “Back” and the timecode. The Triangle icon is the “Add Cue” button (yes, we definitely need a better icon here).
  4. Click “Gravity”
  5. Click “No”
  6. Click Back twice to return to the main view.

After adding the Cue you can hit the “Operate” button (the move arrows at the far left of the midbar) and then use the thin control pad at the far right of the app to crane the Element up and down.

If you change your mind and want to turn gravity back on for the Element:

  1. Select the Mark
  2. Click the Gear icon to see its Properties
  3. Click the Cues line in the Properties
  4. Click “Gravity”
  5. Change the value to Yes
  6. Click Back twice to return to the main view
